TERRAIN: This region has the greatest terrain diversity of any in the USA. It varies from vast stretches of flatland to rolling hills and mountains. You will find fertile farmland, thousands of inland lakes, caves, and woodlands plus miles of coastline to explore.
CLIMATE: Weather in the East Central region is also greatly diverse. The upper section is temperate with well-defined seasons. Winters are cold with snow and sub-zero temperatures at night. Summers are warm, mild, and short. Spring is warm and wet while fall is cool and windy.
The lower section is warmer with a longer growing season. Summers tend to be hot, wet, and humid. Winters are cold but not bitter with occasional snow. Areas in the middle tend to be more temperate with a mixture of upper and lower climate.
