Let’s Go to Apex to Get Awesome Pizza

“Let’s go to Apex to get awesome pizza for lunch.” That’s what I heard when friends in Raleigh, North Carolina suggested we head out for a quick lunch and tour of historic downtown Apex.

Once in Apex, we made a beeline to Anna’s Pizzeria. Big orange barricades and neon-yellow-vested workers may have limited our photo op but they didn’t slow us from stepping in for a delicious lunch. This is what we found inside Anna’s…..

The Peak of Good Eating sign at Anna’s has a two-fold meaning—good food AND it’s in Apex, otherwise known as “The Peak City.”

Pizza + Awesome Italian Food

Lunch is a great time to stop at Anna’s, especially if you want a quick lunch. They have a sweet “pick-2” special—cheese pizza and soda, pizza and salad to name a few. Since pizza is a top on my list, that’s what I had. It’s brick-oven baked and totally delicious!!

We were only in Apex for lunch however, Anna’s menu runs deep. Our friends said their authentic Italian dinners were just as tasty. Everything is homemade and made to order.

Other items on the menu include Stromboli, baked pasta, paninis, calzones, soups and salads. Check out Anna’s full menu HERE.

Old World Decor with a Bonus

From food to décor, Anna’s is a true Italian restaurant. Their “old world décor” feeling begins outside and carries throughout the restaurant.

Dark burgundy painted walls and creamy white trim enhance the old brick building. (Those two colors just make me think of pasta with red sauce!) It’s warm. It’s inviting. Inside, the old world feeling continues with rich dark wood, avocado green walls, and natural tile floor.

The bonus for me was seeing patches from police uniforms displayed on the wall. We were told the collection continues to grow as law enforcement members occasionally send patches or leave one when there for a meal.

Family-Friendly, Laid-Back Atmosphere

If you are thinking "old world = stuffy," Anna's is anything but that. Besides being warm and comfortable, it's also very family-friendly—so bring everyone with you. Dine inside or enjoy your meal al fresco. Either way, the atmosphere is quite laid-back and casual.

Have a large group and need a place to party? They have a private party room upstairs for special events. It accommodates up to 60 people.

When in Apex, Anna's a Must Stop

We love telling our readers about quality, family-owned businesses. Anna’ Pizzeria is one of those places.

They may be small but they have it all—both indoor and outdoor dining, take-out, catering (menu HERE), and a place to host a party.

In Apex, you find Anna’s Pizzeria on the corner of Salem and E. Chatham Streets. FYI, there is also another Anna’s in nearby Fuquay-Varina.

So—when you are in Apex, Anna’s is a must stop for lunch. We hope to head back that direction sometime. It’s worth a return trip.

About the Owner

Yury Rojas, owner of Anna’s Pizzeria Restaurant, has a 3-fold goal. It’s to 1) serve fresh, delicious meals, 2) treat guests like family, and 3) to “deliver a delightful dining experience.”

Established in 1986, the restaurant’s name honors the owner’s Aunt Anna. She helped his family move to America from Italy when he was a toddler.

Many of Aunt Anna’s recipes are part of the restaurant’s daily fare.
