Deep SOUTH
The Deep South region is known for many things, but most of all for its southern hospitality. Terms of endearment such as “sweetie,” “darlin’,” and “honey” are common expressions. If a stranger calls you by one of those names, don’t be surprised. It’s a southern thing.
From the Ozarks to the Appalachians, you will find incredible food. Regional favorites on the coast include seafood and Cajun inspired dishes. Notable southern foods include fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, cobblers, and banana pudding. You’ll want to try these for sure.
Civil War historic battlefields, beautiful antebellum homes, and history abound in the Deep South. It is home to blues music and literary greats. Because many scenic parkways crisscross the south, travel a delight.

TERRAIN: The Deep South region has possibly the widest variety of terrain in the USA. The upper section has mountains and rolling hills. The lower section has wetlands, swamps, and beaches. Plus, you will find rich river valleys and fertile agricultural expanses throughout the area.
CLIMATE: Winters are generally mild with occasional sub-freezing temperatures, however snow is a rarity. Summers can be hot and humid with both hurricanes and tornadoes sweeping the region. Spring and fall are the most beautiful and colorful seasons with mild weather.
